Meenakshi India Ltd. is a manufacturer of apparel and a leader in the production of non-denim bottomwear. Established in 1992, it has its head office in Chennai and three manufacturing units in Salem, India. It is the flagship company of the USD 50 million MIL Group of Companies, which also has interests in steel, plantations, power generation, and education. At Meenakshi, we’re proud to be compliant with Intertek’s Supplier Qualification Program (SQP) industry standards, and even prouder to be the manufacturer of choice to some of the most sought-after brands in the world.

Textiles Trading

This division has a turnover of over Rs.10 crores and supplies textiles from mills such as Grasim, Oxford, and Bombay Rayon to major retailers all over South India. It also owns several retail outlets.

Education

Goenka Public School, one of the best residential schools in Rajasthan, India, is a unit of the Goenka Institute of Education and Research. It is dedicated to building character, capabilities, and competence through positive spiritual, moral, social, physical, and psychological values, including etiquette and grooming. The school provides a modern infrastructure, hygienic living conditions, a happy and creative environment, and the balanced and nutritious diet necessary for growing children.

Plantations

Our plantations, spread over 700 acres, comprise coffee, pepper, and cardamom. Future plans include diversification into medicinal plants and floriculture.

Power Generation

We pursue non-conventional energy generation in the form of wind farms. The power generated is for captive consumption and is used at all our factories and plants.

Steel

Registered in 2015, MIL Steel & Power Limited has extensive knowledge in the manufacturing & supply of billets, raw steel, rough steel rods, and other semi-finished casting products. The company is located in Gummidipoondi, Tamil Nadu, and is one of the leading manufacturers of steel billets in India.

Leadership and corporate structure

Meenakshi works on the simple principle of efficiently utilizing its team’s time and energy, leaving maximum resources to focus on customer satisfaction and product quality. We adhere to strategic corporate guidelines vis-à-vis reportage.

Promoted by Mr. S. S. Goenka as a textile trading business in 1982, Meenakshi India Ltd. is now a public limited company led by Mr. Ashutosh Goenka. As founder and MD, he defines the company growth path while offering dependability to all stakeholders. Under his leadership, Meenakshi has established healthy relationships with many clients globally over the last three decades. This has helped revenues to grow at a CAGR of 18%.

Our CEO leads the merchandising, purchase, export, and HR departments of around 20 people in addition to managing the 3 manufacturing units in Salem. Each manufacturing unit has its own unit manager, who works with a team of industrial engineers and experts. Powering it all is our highly skilled workforce of 1500 people, spread across the 3 units.

Our CFO manages a team of 20 highly qualified accountants, who keep the books up-to-date and ensure that the company is always in good fiscal condition.

shirt manufacturer with a modest capacity of
20,000 garments per month.

2000

Going green

We invested in powering our manufacturing
units by generating wind and solar energy,
long before “Going Green” became a fad.

2005

Relocating

In order to meet our manpower demands,
we relocated our manufacturing unit from Chennai
to Salem, a major textile centre about 340 kilometres
southwest of Chennai.

2008

Expanding

We doubled our capacity by setting up an additional
manufacturing unit in Salem. We also entered the
bottomwear and outerwear markets
keeping in mind the ever-changing market demands.
In addition, we added laundry and embroidery facilities
to our existing unit, thus making us more self-sufficient.

2010

Further adding capacity

We established another manufacturing unit
and added further sewing capacity to our second unit.
We now have a total manufacturing capacity of
200,000 garments per month.
